Mark Zeff设计公司刚刚在匹兹堡的金普顿酒店，打造了一个名为The Commoner的餐厅酒吧。整个餐厅酒吧的面积是4500平方英尺，这里不仅对宾夕法尼亚州这个传统的钢铁之城表达了充分的敬意，而且汇聚了当地能工巧匠的制作工艺，营造出了一个可以让匹兹堡那些体育迷们聚会闲聊的大型酒吧。The Commoner这个名字来源于查塔姆第一伯爵，伯爵还起了匹兹堡这个名字，因此，他被大家称为“伟大的下议院议员 ”。

设计当中有两个因素起到了决定性的作用：第一个是The Commoner所处的位置。她在大街下面，只有少量的自然光可以透射进来，因此，设计需要解决怎样才能在保持酒吧低调忧伤格调的基础上，让这个地方看上去不那么昏暗这个问题；第二个就是，要如何在设计方案里巧妙的融入匹兹堡悠久的钢铁历史。为此，Mark和玻璃公司Tiquo合作，定制了一面大大的镜子，挂在嵌了一副匹兹堡地图的墙上，这样做，可以把从高高的窗户上透进来的阳光反射进室内。

Mark Zeff recently finished, The Commoner, a new restaurant and bar located inside the recently opened Kimpton Hotel Monaco in Pittsburgh. The 4500 sq. ft. space pays homage to the Steel City’s industrial past and features work by local artisans and an oversized bar where Pittsburgh’s legendary sports fans will gather. The Commoner takes its name from William Pitt, First Earl of Chatham, for whom Pittsburgh is named and who was also known as “The Great Commoner.”

In addition, two key factors were at play in the design: The Commoner is located below street level with only diffused natural light so how would they illuminate the space while keeping the dusky ambiance?and how would they evoke the fierce pride of Pittsburghers in a subtle way that made sense design-wise? Mark collaborated with the company Mirror-Tique to custom-design an oversized antiqued mirror that was hung across the back wall that features an inlaid map of the city of Pittsburgh while reflecting the light coming from the high windows.
