这是由斯蒂文?霍尔建筑师事务所设计的纽约亨特角社区图书馆，目前已经动工建设。该项目位于纽约东河一块著名的场地，建筑面积达22000平方英尺，将作为长岛市滨水区和图书馆一个重要的公共空间。该方案同样包括了一个儿童区域、一个青少年专设区、一个会议室以及一个户外露天剧场。当用户在建筑内移动，立面上的通透切口能提供曼哈顿天际线的独特视野，同时，图书馆的混凝土结构暴露在外，并使用了铝表皮，赋予了外部一个微妙的活力感。功能的独立性可以从建筑东立面的雕塑感切口中看出来。在夜间，这个图书馆会发光，成为滨水区新社区的灯塔。在动工仪式上，关于该建筑的设计过程记录站将会在雕塑中心开放，展览将举办到2015年6月8日结束。
inent site in along new york’s east river, steven holl‘s design for a new cultural facility has now broken ground. the 22,000 square foot ‘hunters point community library’ will stand as an important public space within the increasingly privatized long island city waterfront. as well as the library, the scheme also contains a children’s area, a dedicated space for teenagers, a conference room and an outdoor amphitheater.

as users move through the building, glazed cuts in the fa?ade offer views of the distinctive manhattan skyline, while the library’s concrete structure is exposed and aluminum painted, giving the exterior a subtle sparkle. the program’s separation can be read in the sculpted cuts of the east face of the building, with one fa?ade opening for each area.at night the glowing presence of the library along the waterfront joins the pepsi and ‘long island’ sign at the old gantry to become a beacon for the new community place. in celebration of the groundbreaking, an exhibition chronicling the building’s design process will open at the sculpturecenter from now until june 8, 2015.
