这个野外庇护所 项目来自一个摩托车越野发烧友俱乐部的委托，为发烧友及其孩子们在科罗拉多州埃尔山专用赛道上提供一个休息站点。当地的Black Shack建筑事务所没有任何的先例可循，因此，在该项目中，建筑师们把功能、元素以及新的民居形式的创造性融合在一起。庇护所的传统概念与现代大地景观理念的融合产生一种理性的、组织有序的、新颖的设计美学。5个巨大的钢框架水平伸出几乎50英尺，只依靠一根圆形金属柱锚固着拉索，支撑着各个钢梁。

顶棚的下面是一个木框架半透明的白色体块，里面包含一个冷藏箱、可变化的空间以及厕所。其半透明的表皮能让通道接收到自然光，同时也提供必要的隐私。公共的区域中，三个面完全开放，摩托车可以从公园几乎任何方向很容易来到顶棚的阴影下停车。由当地玄武岩砌成的大火坑与项目中其它元素布置形成角度，游客能够用它生火取暖同时，也可以看到赛道上其它骑手。略微倾斜的巨大金属瓦楞顶棚能够为相当大的空间提供庇护，同时在白杨树和松树林中保持较低的姿态。

The motocross shelter is the result of a commission from a motocross-enthusiast with children who needed a rest stop in their private track in the mountains of el jebel, colorado. Local practice black shack architects did not have any precedents for such a structure so instead took to the creative blending of function, the elements, and a reinterpreted vernacular. this fusion of the classical notion of shelter and a contemporary agrarian structure lend to a rationally organized re-envisioned aesthetic. Aseries of 5 immense steel moment frame sections span almost 50 feet supported only by a round metal column anchoring tension cables spanning to each beam.

Tucked partially underneath, a wood-framed translucent white mass contains a cooler, changing area, and toilet. It’s semi-opaque skin allows the passage of natural light while providing the necessary privacy. In the open areas, which claim three full sides of the shelter, motorcycles are able to park under a shade structure with easy access from almost any direction. A large fire pit built of locally gathered basalt stones sites at an angle to the rest of the program allowing the visitors to heat up while they watch the riders on the track. The immense corrugated metal canopy contains a slight pitch enough to shelter a sizable space underneath and maintain a low profile amongst the aspens and pines.
