Under the general Direction of the Product Line Manager, this strategic position will serve as the main internal point of contact for MEP (Mechanical Electrical Plumbing) Product Management in China. As a market leader you will build strong internal relationships with Product Management, Product Marketing and Sales Execution teams and strong external relationships with key customers and influencers in the industry. The primary goals of the regional Product Manager are to identify and develop country specific market requirements for the MEP product line to support business growth and product strategy objectives in China. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Market Analysis
• Identifies targets and market opportunity in China and defines product requirements for the segment.
• Conducts market research and gathers industry expert opinions and quantitative market data for different market segments in China.
• Works with key customers or prospects in the region to identify unsolved problems in market that are both urgent and pervasive and that people are willing to pay to solve.
• Identifies competitive offerings in the regional market. Reviews their niche, approach, and success in the market. Assesses their strengths and weaknesses. Evaluates the presence and relative importance of key product features.
Quantitative Analysis
• Segments the market and maps needs of target markets in China. Analyzes and determines market segments to proactively pursue. Ensures that the size of the targeted segments is large enough to support the current and future business of the company.
• Shares responsibility for conducting win/loss analysis with sales team in China to understand why evaluators did and did not buy our product. Recommends changes to improve competitiveness of our product.
Strategic Planning
• Performs an objective analysis of a potential market opportunity to provide a basis for investment. Creates a business plan for both new products and new releases for existing products in China.
• Identifies, creates and maintains relationships, leverages, and acts as main point of contact for key thought leaders in the industry, including industry specialists, research analysts, key editors in the press, and other third parties.
• Serves as main internal point of contact for MEP product strategy in China. Builds strong internal partnerships with Product Marketing, Corporate Marketing and Field Marketing.
Document Responsibility
• Responsible for creating and maintaining Country Plan for China and contributing to the final Market Requirements Document for MEP product releases.
Key Interfaces
• Target Customers, Industry Contacts, Press, Sales and Channel Partners, Product Marketing, Product Management and Business Development.
Requirements:
• B.S. or equivalent in Architecture, Engineering or engineering-related field
• Excellent communication skills – must speak both Chinese and English - able to be an effective listener and communicator for MEP related issues internally, and externally within the region.
• Strong business planning and analytical capabilities required.
• In-depth experience in Architecture, Engineering, Construction (AEC) industry
Desired Knowledge/Skills:
• Graduate degree, MBA or equivalent
• Knowledge of software product development processes
• Familiarity with CAD products and 3D design tools
Work Experience:
• 5+ years experience working on large multi-disciplined building design or construction projects in China
