The faculty provides coursework for undergraduate and postgraduate students in the field of geotechnical engineering & civil construction. Research fields of the faculty including: ‘geotechnical earthquake engineering and earthquake resistant engineering’, ‘geotechnical damage computational mechanics’, ‘dynamic property and seismic stability analysis of soil’, ‘seismic and blast wave theory’, ‘soil-structure interaction’, ‘permafrost engineering’, ‘dynamic property and seismic stability of permafrost engineering’, ‘underground engineering’, ‘underground geotechnical engineering and rock engineering’, ‘lifeline earthquake engineering’, ‘geographic information system’, ‘engineering disaster management’, ‘cooperation of structure and construction’, ‘simulation construction technology of complex engineering’. The faculty has 19 academic staff, including 7 professors, 9 associate professors and 1 lecturer.

Job Description:

The School of Civil Engineering at Harbin Institute of Technology is seeking one motivated candidate with expertise principally in geotechnical engineering.

(1) Teaching：

Geotechincal engineering and other relative courses for undergraduate and graduate, 50 course hours/year;

(2) Scientific research：

Conduct research on geotechnical engineering, in details: dynamic property of soil and geotechnical earthquake engineering, mechanical property foundation engineering of soft soil.

(3) Others：

(a) Guide students, in details: guide graduate design for undergraduates, and assist to guide the completion of Master project;

(b)Participate in daily teaching and research management and assistant tasks.

* In view of these job descriptions might not be exhaustive, the applicant may be required to engage tasks within the scope of duties which has not been mentioned after the appointment.

Requirements：

(1) Educational background

(a) Final qualification and degree: a doctor’s degree from 985 engineering universities, or Chinese Academy of Sciences, or oversee famous universities is required; the first academic degree: in 985 or 211 engineering universities; (if the academic production is excellent, it can not be confined this requirement).

(b) Applicants should have outstanding performance, learn courses in direction of geotechnical engineering systematically and have outstanding marks in the university. Must have expertise with fields of geotechincal engineering.

(2) Requirements of teaching

(a)Skilled use of MS PowerPoint and other teaching tools;

(b) Unique insights and ideas towards course construction and reform.

(3) Requirements of research

(a)Strong background in geotechnical engineering;

(b)Published 5 or more SCI and EI journal papers (the first author, second author and third author, 3 journal papers should be published as the first author, at least one paper was published in foreign language. The papers should be accepted or in production);

(c)Have experience in participating important research projects, such as, National Science Foundation of China, National High Technology Research and Development Program of China, National Project 973 and National Key Technology R&D Program. The candidate can introduce his research on conference.

(4) Other requirements

(a)Have a certain degree of organization, planning and leadership skills;

(b)Be able to and willing to receive training when needed.
