Welcome to Shanghai Yuyuan Garden Station    

   

上海地铁委托ToMASTER明日大师作为公共艺术策划单位，明日大师联合创始人刘泉作为艺术总策展人；邀请建筑设计师熊星作为豫园站室内设计总设计师，以艺术设计创新思维进行全站厅设计《上海脉搏》。
     

Shanghai Metro commissioned ToMASTER as the public art curator party, and Coco Liu, the co-founder of ToMASTER, as the chief art curator; invited the architect Xiong Xing as the chief interior designer of  Yuyuan Garden Station, who designs the station hall creatively with the idea of "Shanghai Pulse".

14号线豫园站作为上海地铁最深车站（36米），相当于10层楼高，如果说上海地铁作为上海的动脉，那么位于城市中心最深处的豫园站就像上海的心脏一般。    

Line 14 Yuyuan Garden Station is the deepest station of the Shanghai Metro (36M)，equivalent to 10 stories high. If the Shentong Metro is the artery of Shanghai, then Yuyuan Garden Station, located in the deepest part of the city center, is like the heart of Shanghai, continuously providing vitality to the city.

其位处于城隍庙外滩老街坊，与浦东的高楼大厦隔江辉映：融汇东西方建筑风貌，连接着历史、当代与未来。    

In Yu Garden, the old streets of Chenghuang Temple on the Bund and the high-rise buildings in Pudong are shining across the river, wich witness the past, present and future of Shanghai.

Public Art Curating    

   

ToMASTER明日大师艺术总策展人刘泉提出：“把公共艺术融入到交通出行中，让普通百姓在上班的途中就能感受到艺术的美感”。      

Coco Liu, the chief curator of ToMASTER, mentioned that: "Public art should be integrated into transportation so that ordinary people can feel the beauty of art on their way to work".

在2015年打造完【最美地铁蝴蝶墙-汉中路】之后，总策展人刘泉就一直有个梦想：打造一个全沉浸式艺术地铁站厅，把公共艺术融入到交通出行中，让普通百姓在上班的途中就能感受到艺术的美轮美奂。这也是上海地铁委托ToMASTER明日大师的初衷--给社会美育赋能是公共艺术最重要的价值之一。

After creating "The Most Beautiful Metro Butterfly Wall -- Hanzhong Road Station" in 2015, Coco Liu, the chief curator, has always had a dream: to create a fully immersive art metro station hall, to integrate public art into transportation, so that ordinary people can feel the beauty of art on their way to work. This is also the original intention of Shanghai Metro to entrust ToMASTER Master Tomorrow -- empowering social aesthetic education is one of the most important values of public art.

面对豫园如此重要的位置，以及复杂的空间和竖向设计，需要找到既有建筑设计背景，室内把控能力，还要有公共艺术美学功底的跨界设计师。ToMASTER明日大师通过与12个国际背景的艺术家、设计师历经3个月探讨，最终和上海地铁共同选定了行之建筑事务所的创始人熊星作为最终创意者。

Facing such an important location of Yu Garden, as well as the complex space and vertical design, it is necessary to find a crossover designer with both architectural design background, interior control ability and public art aesthetics background. ToMASTER, after three months of discussion with 12 artists and designers with international backgrounds, finally selected the architect Xiong Xing as the final creator with Shanghai Metro.

 设计概念 

Design concept

基于对在地文化的深度思考，建筑设计师熊星通过黄浦江的水流形态获得灵感，将天花的曲线线条，像江水一样自然拍打到柱体上，形成有韵律感的的脉动。用水的形式语言，一气呵成地塑造了古典、东方、现代的空间体验。

Based on the in-depth thinking of local culture, Xiong Xing got inspiration from the water flow of Huangpu River. The curved lines of the ceiling slap onto the column like river water, forming a rhythmic pulse. The language of water shapes the classical, oriental and modern space experience in one take.

海纳百川是上海的城市精神，黄浦江是上海的母亲河，上海天然和“水”这个元素息息相关。   14号线豫园站连接浦东，头顶上正是黄浦江水。天花的基本形式采用了水波的形态，视觉化了这种感受。

The spirit of Shanghai is that all rivers run into the sea, and the Huangpu River is Shanghai's mother river. Naturally, Shanghai is closely related to the element of water. Line 14 Yuyuan Garden Station connects Pudong with the Huangpu River overhead. The basic form of the ceiling adopts the shape of water waves, which visualizes the feeling of ripples.

“豫园”二字几乎就是老上海的代言词。豫园站该怎么做？古色古香？还是在地下复刻一个城隍庙？设计师希望用纯粹形式是来诠释多个层面的丰富性。  

"Yu Garden" is almost the word of old Shanghai. What should Yuyuan Garden Station be designed? Antique? Or replicate a Chenghuang Temple in the underground? The designer wanted to use pure form to interpret the richness of multiple layers.

让天花的“水波”拍打到上面，形成一个个朝下的浪尖儿。这浪尖的几何造型来自豫园城隍庙的屋顶飞檐—— 柱子上的浪尖儿就像飞檐在水里的倒影 。  

The "water waves" beat to the ceiling, forming a downward wave points. The geometric shape is derived from the roof   eave   of Chenghuang Temple in Yu Garden - the wave tip on the column is like the reflection of the eaves in the water.

巨大的天幕本身就是一个三维LED装置，灯光可以实现动态变色，多媒体播放，艺术交互，结合节日，活动，呈现不同的空间效果，例如在春节可以有中国红的喜庆气息；国庆则可以有国旗飘扬；七夕也可以有玫瑰花瓣飞舞等等。

The huge sky curtain itself is a three-dimensional LED device. The lighting can realize dynamic color change, multimedia playback, and artistic interaction, combined with festivals and activities, presenting different spatial effects. For example, it can create a  jubilant atmosphere of Chinese red in the Spring Festival; flag flying in the National Day;  rose petals flying in the Valentine's Day and so on.

设计师更希望这个天花的内容是开放的，可以对外征集。市民，达人，学生作品，通过适当的评选，都可以参与到豫园站水波天幕的创作中来，共同持续的塑造豫园站的空间光影。

The designer hopes the content of the ceiling is open, which could have an open call to the public. Citizens, artists and students can participate in the creation of the Yuyuan Garden Station's water wave canopy through proper selection, so as to continuously shape the light and shadow of the space.

 落地品控 

Quality control

豫园站天花板的设计及其考究复杂。豫园的落地过程之难，是常规站点的无数倍，都是从未经历过的技术难点。GRG怎样与非标准参数化结合？屋顶空间怎样将吊顶与各种数不清的技术接口对接还要做到无痕感的【一镜到底】？

The ceiling design of Yuyuan Station is exquisite and complicated. The landing process of Yu Garden is countless times more difficult than that of conventional sites, all of which are technical difficulties we have never experienced before. How does GRG combine with non-standard parameterization? How does the roof space connect the suspended ceiling to a myriad of technical interfaces and make it traceless?

首先测量得到站厅基础框架结构，再利用BIM系统建立虚拟的建筑工程三维模型。在模型中利用参数化设计技术，生成整个吊顶结构，参数化设计能够精确控制吊顶的每一个弧度，能够保证吊顶曲线在不同的视角都能很好的遮盖了吊顶上部的管线，使整个空间浑然一体。系统同时生成完整的、与实际情况一致的建筑工程信息库。该信息库包含了每一片吊顶构件独一无二的几何信息、专业属性及状态信息，并自动为每一片吊顶构件编号。

Firstly, the basic frame structure of the station hall is measured, and then a virtual 3d model of the construction project is established by using BIM system. In the model, parametric design technology is used to generate the entire ceiling structure. Parametric design can accurately control each radian of the ceiling, and ensure that the ceiling curve can well cover the upper pipeline of the ceiling from different perspectives, so that the whole space is integrated. At the same time, the system generates a complete building engineering information database consistent with the actual situation. The database contains unique geometric information, professional attributes and status information of each ceiling component, and automatically numbers each ceiling component.

这个项目所采用的BIM系统，大大提高了建筑工程的信息集成化程度，从而为整个项目的相关利益方提供了一个工程信息交换和共享的平台，大大简化了从生产制作到施工完成的难度。

The BIM system adopted in this project greatly improves the degree of information integration of construction engineering, thus providing a platform for the exchange and sharing of engineering information for the stakeholders of the whole project, greatly simplifying the difficulty from production to completion of construction.

同时，整个吊顶上镶嵌了与每一片铝板长度相同，总长数万米、总灯球数几十万颗的高科技LED灯带。LED灯带使用了人体感应、自动控制、编程控制、远程控制等多重新媒体技术，能够精确做到全自动控制、手动全域控制、手动单灯珠控制，在日常、活动、节日庆典等多种不同环境下能够呈现出异彩纷呈的光影动态效果，用艺术装点上海心脏，用艺术描绘公共空间。

At the same time, the entire ceiling is inlaid with the same length as each piece of aluminum plate, with a total length of tens of thousands of meters and a total number of hundreds of thousands of high-tech LED lights. LED lights with using the induction of human body, automatic control, programmable control, remote control, many new media technologies such as global control accurately achieve automatic control, manual, manual single lamp bead control, in the daily, activities, festival celebration and so on a variety of different environments can present a colorful light dynamic effect, with art deck heart of Shanghai, depicting the public space with art.

法国艺术家Vincent Leroy作为享誉全球的艺术家，在策展人刘泉邀请其参加这个作品的时候，提出用【魔都律动】呼应设计师熊星的【上海脉搏】概念。目前该作品仍在筹划中，让我们共同期待艺术家Vincent Leroy为豫园站增添一道靓丽的新风景！

French artist Vincent Leroy, as a world-renowned artist, proposed to use "Modu Rhythm" to echo  Xiong Xing's concept of "Shanghai Pulse"  when the curator Coco Liu invited him to participate in this project. At present, the work is still under planning. Let us look forward to the artist Vincent Leroy adding a beautiful new scenery to Yuyuan Garden Station!
