历时四年多，安徽黄山太平湖的环保整治依然未能令人满意。4月22日，中央生态环境保护督察组对黄山市太平湖违规建设房地产项目整改工作推进不力进行通报。 黄山区在推动太平湖违法违规项目整改工作中不敢动 真碰硬，浮于表面。
由MAD设计项目，部分沿湖而建的楼房下方出现水土流失
1987年，太平湖申报列为省级风景名胜区。但 直到2014年，《太平湖风景名胜区总体规划》编制工作才启动，并于2016年获批。
2000年，黄山区编制的《太平湖旅游度假区总体规划》并于2004年获安徽省政府批复后，太平湖迎来旅游开发热潮。 2007年，太平湖开展了国家湿地公园试点， 正式成为国家湿地公园， 湿地公园的规划突出“生态为魂”。
期间，大批项目开工。 此次通报了30个违规项目中，2008年7月前开工项目13个、2008年8月至2014年12月期间开工项目15个、2014年12月后开工项目2个。
太平湖沿岸大量房地产、酒店和旅游度假村项目持续开工建设， 湖泊自然岸线被侵占、景观和湿地资源遭受破坏 ，甚至一些项目占用太平湖水域，直接建在湖面上。
不少房地产项目已销售完毕，只剩下靠湖边的公寓了，看山的每平方米卖1万元左右，看湖的每平方米超过1.5万元。 从央视采访视频背景来，似乎是MAD设计的黄山太平湖公寓。
中央生态环境保护督察通报太平湖问题后，安徽省成立由省委常委、省纪委书记任组长的整改工作领导小组进驻黄山区， 领导 小组表示， 要依 纪依法依规查明查实责任，严肃追责问责，既查属地责任又查部门管 理责任，既查企业主体责任 又查政府监管责任，无论涉及什么人、无论涉及哪一个时间段的责任，都要一查到底、绝不放过。
截至5月2日上午，黄山区太平湖流域内的部分拆除工作已全面完成。拆除完成后，会从附近乡镇运一些根植土进行覆盖，后期会种植草坪和苗木，进行生态复绿。
MAD设计的公寓在形态上迎合黄山的山水形态，很好地融入周边的自然环境，是一个优秀的建筑设计项目，如果拆除实在可惜。项目的建筑师MAD官方对该项目是这样描述的 ：“将10栋高矮不一的建筑，沿着湖边错落有致地自然地散落在太平湖边的山脊上，就像是山的一部分，因山势而缓缓“生长”。每栋公寓楼不一的建筑外形及公寓楼间不一的水平高度差，发生了有趣但和谐的呼应，整体就像是山间依山而立的竖向排布的村庄。建筑在山水中，与天地自然融为一体。
